August 2009 it beame public known that a police investigation was started due to a death of a 16 year old boy <Ref>Student beaten to death at boot camp, China Global times, August 4 2009</Ref>. Following this death a call for regulation of such camps came from experts <Ref>Experts call for regulation on Net addiction treatment, China Global News, August 6 2009</Ref>

October 2010 it was revealed that two of the instructors was given prison sentences of 5 and 10 years for his death <ref>Teenager beaten to death at boot camp, The Straigt Times, October 1, 2010</ref>
